One day Bookshop & Gallery was walking towards downtown San Francisco. He suddenly found himself in front of Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s City Lights Bookstore, the home of the Beat Generation, and felt an urge to step inside.
As he walked around the store he saw a door with “I AM THE DOOR” written on it.
He felt a magic feeling and experienced what John Lennon used to call creative diarrhea.
B&G had this idea of blending together different art forms: music, drawings, photography. Then many people started gently turning up to sing, play, draw... from all over the world.
And so, this is how I Am The Door (An Illustrated Musical Experience) was born. Enjoy it!
